Lynn Canyon is the 250-acre municipal park around a section of Lynn Creek as it cuts through a steep narrow gorge in the Coast Mountain foothills. The free pedestrian suspension bridge — older and slightly less spectacular than the famous Capilano bridge, but at no charge — is the centrepiece. From the bridge, a network of trails descends to swimming pools at the foot of the gorge, climbs to the Twin Falls viewing platform, and connects to the longer Baden-Powell Trail east toward Mount Seymour.
The Ecology Centre at the park entrance is a small free interpretive museum on temperate rainforest, with a model of the watershed, dioramas of local mammals, and information on the salmon run. It is worth a 20-minute stop before walking down to the canyon.
The 30 Foot Pool and the Twin Falls Pool are the local summer swimming spots — extremely popular, properly cold (around 10°C in midsummer), and not for the unprepared. There are no lifeguards and several drownings have happened over the decades; the rocks above the pools are slippery and currents are stronger than they look.
Parking fills up by mid-morning on summer weekends. Buses 228 and 229 from Lonsdale Quay reach the park entrance.
