Maplewood Flats

A shoreline conservation area in North Vancouver, with easy trails, salt marsh, and strong birdwatching.

Maplewood Flats is a gentle shoreline nature reserve on Burrard Inlet, managed for birds, marsh plants, and quiet walking. The trails are flat and easy, moving through woodland, mudflat viewpoints, and restored habitat with the industrial harbour never entirely out of sight.

That contrast is what makes the place interesting. You can watch herons, ducks, and seasonal migrants while still seeing the working edge of Vancouver across the water. It is a good low-effort nature stop for North Vancouver, especially when the mountains are clouded in.
