Abkhazi Garden is smaller and quieter than Victoria's famous Butchart Gardens, but it has a more intimate story. Prince and Princess Abkhazi shaped the rocky site into a layered garden of Garry oaks, rhododendrons, ponds, and carefully framed views after their separation and survival during the upheavals of the twentieth century.
The garden is best for visitors who like close observation rather than spectacle. Paths wind through rock outcrops and plantings that change strongly by season, and the scale makes it easy to see the design as a personal landscape rather than a public display ground.
