Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park is one of Victoria's easiest big outdoor escapes, protecting two joined freshwater lakes on the Saanich Peninsula. The park has beaches, picnic areas, rowing facilities, fishing spots, and a trail network that makes it useful for both casual family outings and longer exercise loops.
The 10 km lake loop is the classic way to experience it, but you can also keep the visit simple with a swim or picnic in summer. It is far enough from downtown to feel like a proper green break, yet close enough to work as a flexible half-day by car or bike.
