Centennial Botanical Conservatory

Three-pavilion tropical greenhouse in Centennial Park

A welcome warm-and-green refuge in the long Thunder Bay winter, the Centennial Botanical Conservatory consists of three glass pavilions — tropical, show, and cactus — packed with plants in a small civic park north of downtown. Built in 1967 to mark Canada's centenary, it remains one of the few year-round indoor gardens in northwestern Ontario.

Free to enter. Plan around 45 minutes. A combined visit with a walk in the surrounding park (Centennial Park has cross-country ski trails in winter and walking trails in summer) makes a good half-day.
