A small civic park on the bluff above Port Arthur, Hillcrest Park has the best in-town view of the Sleeping Giant — the rocky profile lying across the horizon ten kilometres away. The lookout has a free telescope, a few benches, and a path winding through formal gardens that fill with annuals in summer.
A five-minute stop or an hour with a picnic, depending on the weather. Locals come at sunset, when the giant takes on a long shadow and the lake turns silver.
