A limestone cave system on the southern edge of Santa Elena, the closest natural attraction to Flores that does not involve a boat or a long day trip. The cave's name means "Cave of the Serpent" in Yucatec Maya; the locals will point out a few of the rock formations that suggest one.
The cave has a lit walking circuit of about thirty minutes and is mildly humid throughout. Bring a torch as backup. A small entrance fee; opens during daylight hours. Easily reached by tuk-tuk from Flores in fifteen minutes.
