The Hotel Zone packs beaches, water sports, and a handful of legitimate sights into one 22-kilometre barrier island. The headline non-beach attractions are the underwater sculpture park MUSA, the two in-zone Mayan sites at El Rey and El Meco, and the Mayan Museum which combines a strong indoor collection with the open-air San Miguelito ruins.
