A planned marina-and-resort district built in the 1980s on reclaimed land north of the airport. The 350-berth marina is the largest on Mexico's Pacific coast and is the embarkation point for most of the larger sport-fishing charters and sunset cruises. A 1.5-kilometre wooden boardwalk runs around the basin, lined with restaurants, ice cream parlours and a few boutiques.
The neighbourhood is more polished and less authentically Mexican than the centro or Zona Romántica — international hotel chains, condominium towers, and an 18-hole Joe Finger golf course — but it is convenient if you have an early flight, a fishing charter or a cruise to catch. The El Faro lighthouse-bar at the harbour entrance is the obvious sunset destination.
