The best view in Puerto Vallarta is earned on foot. A steep, rustic staircase climbs from the streets behind the Malecón to a hilltop cross overlooking the entire bay. The panorama takes in the Malecón, the church tower, the Sierra Madre foothills, and the curve of Banderas Bay. Go early morning or late afternoon for the light — and because the climb in midday heat is punishing. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
