Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire

Refuge for the island's feral donkeys

Donkey Sanctuary Bonaire was founded in 1993 to care for sick, injured, and orphaned donkeys. Hundreds now live in its large enclosure south of Kralendijk, where visitors follow a drive-through route and see the animals at close range.

The donkeys are very accustomed to cars and may crowd the windows, which is either delightful or chaotic depending on your tolerance for large, determined noses. Follow staff instructions about feeding and keep doors closed. Admission supports food, water, shelter, and veterinary care; check current hours before driving out.
