Gotomeer

Northern saltwater lagoon where flamingos feed beneath cactus-covered hills.

Gotomeer is a saltwater lagoon on the approach to Rincon and Washington-Slagbaai. The road follows its edge before climbing to a viewpoint over pale water, cactus-covered hills, and the national park beyond. Flamingos feed here, sometimes close to the road but often as distant pink marks across the lagoon.

The view is reliable; a large flock is not. Stop only at safe pull-offs, bring binoculars, and remain outside protected ground. Morning and late afternoon offer softer light and less heat shimmer.
