Willemstoren has marked Bonaire's southern tip since 1837. Its red-and-white tower stands in a flat, exposed landscape of salt water, scrub, driftwood, and rough windward sea, far removed from the sheltered diving coast only a short drive away.
The lighthouse is normally viewed from outside. There are no substantial facilities and little shade, but it makes a quiet final stop on the south loop after the salt pans and slave huts. Do not add to the piles of stones and debris along the shore; leave the coast as you found it.
