Barker Ranch is a remote backcountry site in the Panamint Range, best known as the place where Charles Manson and members of his group were arrested in 1969. The surviving remains are sparse, but the setting explains much of the story: rough desert, difficult tracks, and a long way from ordinary traffic.
This is not a casual roadside stop. Reaching the area requires a high-clearance vehicle, good desert preparation, and current road information. Go for the combination of Death Valley backcountry and strange modern history, not for a polished attraction.
