The most accessible dunes in the park, rising about 30 metres above the valley floor near Stovepipe Wells. No trail — you just walk into them. The dunes are best at sunrise or sunset when the light rakes across the rippled sand and shadows fill the hollows. Early morning you'll find coyote tracks, beetle trails, and the occasional sidewinder's telltale S-curves still fresh in the sand. Midday visits in any season are brutal; the dunes absorb heat and radiate it back at ankle level.
