Charcoal Kilns

The Charcoal Kilns are well-preserved stone beehive kilns from Death Valley's mining era. They were built to turn pinyon and juniper wood into charcoal for nearby smelters, and their remote setting makes the industrial history feel unusually tangible.

The kilns are reached by a mountain road, so check road conditions before making the trip.
