The high-arched bridge carrying SR 406 east from Titusville across the Indian River Lagoon to Merritt Island. The current four-lane bridge opened in 2011, replacing an older drawbridge, and includes a wide pedestrian and bike lane on the north side with built-in viewing benches.
The bridge is a favourite of launch watchers and birders — you can see straight up the lagoon toward Kennedy Space Center, and the railing height puts you above the mangrove canopy. There is a small fishing area at the east abutment that is open day and night. The bridge is also the only road access to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge from the Titusville side.
