A small interpretive marker is all that remains visible at the Windover site, just south of Titusville off SR 405 — the actual burial pond has been re-flooded and protected. But the discoveries made here in the 1980s rewrote what was known about early Floridians. Over 168 burials dating to 6,000–5,000 BC were excavated, preserved by the anaerobic peat in remarkable detail.
The artefacts and the story are housed in the Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science in Cocoa, not at the site itself. For most visitors the site is more meaningful as a story than a destination. Even so, the small park is open daylight hours and worth a brief stop if you are driving past.
