First Baptist Church is one of Asheville architect Douglas Ellington's early major commissions. Its Art Deco and Romantic details, broad dome, and copper-capped cupola make it stand out among the city's downtown churches.
It is mainly an exterior architecture stop, easy to include while walking between Pack Square, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial, and the rest of central Asheville.
