Jackson Building

The Jackson Building is Asheville's first skyscraper: a fifteen-storey neo-Gothic tower built in 1924 on a square of land just twenty-seven feet on a side at the edge of Pack Square. The constraints of the lot pushed the architect upward, and the result is a strikingly slender pinnacle of brick and limestone with a small observation room on top.

It is no longer the tallest building in Asheville but it still defines the Pack Square skyline. The exterior with its ornate Gothic details rewards a slow look from the square. The interior is private offices but the lobby is sometimes accessible during business hours.
