Asheville packs more into a small city than seems fair. There is a Gilded Age chateau on its outskirts, art deco towers downtown, a working artists' district along the river, and the Blue Ridge Mountains visible from almost every corner. The city is walkable, the breweries are clustered, and the museums are good. Pick a day for the Biltmore, a day for downtown and the River Arts District, and a day for the parkway or Pisgah, and you have a perfect long weekend.
