Miami's surviving 1929 Marathon service station, a cottage-style brick building at 331 South Main Street, is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in the era when oil companies tried to make their stations look like little suburban houses so they would blend in with their neighbourhoods.
The pumps are long gone but the building has been restored and is worth a stop and a photograph as you drive Route 66 through town.
