Sapulpa

Route 66 town in Creek County, shaped by railroads, oil, glassmaking, and preserved early downtown blocks.

Located on Historic Route 66, Sapulpa is the county seat of Creek County with over 19,000 people. From Indian Territory history to the Glenpool oil strike, from railroad town to glass and pottery manufacturing, Sapulpa has been shaped by diverse influences. The Main Street project has preserved the distinctive downtown district, most of which was built before the 1920s.

Not just a bedroom community of Tulsa, Sapulpa has a long history in glass and pottery. The Frankoma Pottery company on Frankoma Road attracts visitors for plant tours and its retail outlet.

Other attractions include Creek County Courthouse, Heyburn Lake, Lake Sahoma, the Sapulpa Historical Museum, and the Sapulpa Trolley and Rail Museum. Events include the Route 66 Blowout classic car show in June, the Marshall Royal Jazz Festival in July, and a Christmas Parade the first Saturday in December.
