Rock Creek Bridge (Old Route 66)

A 1921 steel-truss bridge over Rock Creek on the original Route 66 alignment, carrying a single lane of red-brick-paved roadway. The bridge was the first stretch of Route 66 in Oklahoma to be designated as historic and was bypassed in 1952 by the wider current alignment. The deck has been restored and is open to slow vehicular traffic and pedestrians.

The 0.6-mile section of intact 1920s brick paving leading north from the bridge is one of only a handful of original brick-paved Route 66 segments left in the country. Free; always open; brilliant in low evening light.
