Oxley Nature Center is the calmest corner of Mohawk Park, with trails through bottomland forest, prairie openings, ponds, and birdy wetlands. It is a useful counterweight to Tulsa's Art Deco downtown and music history: here the city softens into cottonwoods, boardwalks, and slow water.
The paths are easy rather than dramatic, which is part of the appeal. Bring binoculars if you have them, go early in warm months, and expect a place for herons, turtles, deer, and families walking at a measured pace rather than a hard hiking destination.
