Chenuis Falls is a quieter Carbon River outing, away from the famous Paradise and Sunrise crowds. The route begins at the Carbon River Entrance and follows the old road before branching toward the river, where the last approach can feel more like a backcountry puzzle than a groomed nature path.
The reward is a mossy waterfall tucked into the rainforest side of Mount Rainier. Conditions matter here: river crossings, washed-out sections, and seasonal bridges can change the character of the hike. Check with the park before committing, and treat it as a rough forest walk rather than a casual roadside stop.
