Tolmie Peak Trail is one of Mount Rainier's classic northwest-corner hikes, starting near Mowich Lake and climbing past Eunice Lake to an old fire lookout. The view back to Rainier over the lake is the reason people make the rough drive in.
The hike is moderate by park standards, but the access road, short season, and limited parking make planning matter. Go on a clear day if you can, start early, and treat the lookout as a fragile historic structure rather than just a photo platform.
