Eagle Peak Trail climbs hard from the Longmire side of Mount Rainier National Park to a saddle in the Tatoosh Range. It is shorter than some of the park's marquee hikes, but the elevation gain is honest, and the last views toward Rainier feel earned.
This is a good choice when you are based around Longmire and want a strenuous walk without driving across the park. Snow can linger high on the route, so check conditions, carry proper footwear, and do not underestimate the descent after the climb.
