The Cañón del Inca is a narrow slot canyon about an hour by horse from Tupiza, where the rock walls close in to barely shoulder-width in places. A small stream runs through the bottom for much of the year, and the canyon ends at a low waterfall and a natural rock amphitheatre.
The approach is the classic Tupiza horse-trip itinerary: out through the Quebrada de Palala, across a high plateau and down into the canyon. The trail is easy by Andean standards but the heat can be punishing in the afternoon — go early.
