The town's main square is a tidy, palm-shaded plaza with a small fountain at its centre and benches under the trees. The cathedral and the local government offices line the surrounding streets, and the cafes on the corners are the obvious places to start an evening.
Tupiza is small enough that almost everything in town is within five minutes' walk of the plaza, including the markets, the bus terminal and the train station.
