Cachoeira do Tijuípe

A 12-metre waterfall in the Atlantic Forest about 18 km from Itacaré, on a tributary of the Rio de Contas. The fall drops into a deep, dark plunge pool that is good enough for a real swim — the water is cold, clear, and tinted brown by tannins from the forest above.

Access is by tour or by car. Most visitors come on a combined trip that includes Tijuípe and one of the smaller falls upstream. There is a basic restaurant at the entrance and a small entry fee. The site can be busy on summer weekends; come on a weekday for the cleanest experience.
