Casino Municipal de Viña del Mar

1930 Art Deco casino on the seafront, the social heart of summer in Viña

The Casino Municipal sits at the northern end of the seafront, an ample 1930 Art Deco block that has been at the centre of Viña's summer social life for nearly a century. It was one of the first legal casinos in South America and its presence is much of the reason the city established itself as Santiago's playground.

Inside there are the usual gaming halls, restaurants, and a small theatre. Even if you do not gamble, the building is worth a look from the outside, and the surrounding gardens are pleasant to walk in the late afternoon before the casino fills up.
