The Castillo Wulff is the most photogenic of Viña's seaside palaces, an eccentric mansion of stone, brick, and timber clinging to a rocky promontory directly above the Pacific. It was built in 1908 for a German nitrate merchant who chose the site so that he could watch his ships come into port from his own dining room.
The interiors include rooms with glass floors above the sea. The building has been used as a maritime museum and as a venue for temporary exhibitions; check the schedule before visiting. Even from the outside it is one of the great sights of the city.
