The Limbe Botanic Garden was established during the German colonial period — Limbe was then called Victoria — and has been maintained through successive administrations to become one of the better-preserved colonial-era botanical gardens in Central Africa. The grounds hold a wide collection of tropical plants, including species native to the rainforests of the Cameroon Highlands, and the mature trees provide welcome shade on a hot afternoon.
The garden is adjacent to the Wildlife Centre, making it easy to combine both in a single visit. It is a pleasant, unhurried place: less dramatic than the primates next door, but quietly interesting for anyone curious about the region's plant life or its layered colonial history.
