Café Acácia is the kind of daytime café Maputo could use more of — bright, clean, with reliable wifi, decent espresso, fresh juice, salads, sandwiches and a small list of Portuguese pastries. The courtyard at the back, shaded by an acacia tree, is the spot to ask for. It is a useful workspace in the morning and a popular spot for the city's freelance journalists and NGO workers.
The bakery counter does the best pastéis de nata in Polana, and the lunchtime quiches and salads are good value. The café closes early evening; for dinner you need to go elsewhere.
