DC Hill

Hilltop park in the centre of the city, with views and old British buildings

A small park on a steep wooded hill in the centre of Chittagong, named for the Deputy Commissioner whose colonial bungalow still sits at the top. The climb up to the open area is about ten minutes from the lower entrance, and the views over the old town and out to the river are some of the best you can get without leaving the centre.

The park is busy with joggers in the morning and groups of teenagers in the evenings. Cultural festivals are sometimes staged on the open grass at the top — the annual Pohela Boishakh (Bengali New Year) celebrations in April are particularly atmospheric.
