Chittagong's sights are modest in scale but varied in character — a Mughal mosque, a shrine thick with turtles, a hillside viewpoint, a well-tended Commonwealth cemetery. None require more than an hour, so it is easy to see several in a day. Add to that the Portuguese-era lanes of Firingi Bazar, the 17th-century mosque at Anderkilla, and the panoramic view from DC Hill, and you have a reasonable two-day programme.
Out of town, the Shipbreaking Yards at Sitakunda are one of the most distinctive sights in Bangladesh — grim, vast, and unforgettable. The amusement park at Foy's Lake and the long beach at Patenga are the main local family destinations.
