Korean Provisional Government Memorial Hall

The Korean Provisional Government Memorial Hall in central Changsha marks the period from 1937 to 1938 when the Korean government-in-exile, forced out of Shanghai by the Japanese invasion, relocated to Changsha before moving further south. The Korean independence movement used Changsha as a base for organising resistance to Japanese colonial rule, and several important meetings and decisions took place here. The memorial documents this largely forgotten chapter of Korean-Chinese wartime cooperation.

The hall is a small but carefully curated museum that places Changsha within the broader context of East Asian resistance to Japanese imperialism. For Korean visitors it is a significant heritage site; for others it provides a dimension of Changsha's wartime history that the city's own museums do not cover. Entry is free. The hall is in the Wuyi Square area, easily combined with other city-centre attractions.
