Kasauli

Quiet Himachal hill station of pine walks, colonial churches, and ridge views above Chandigarh.

Kasauli is a small hill station in southern Himachal Pradesh, high enough above the plains to cool the air but close enough to Chandigarh and Kalka to be a simple escape. It is not a place for big-ticket sightseeing. Its value is slower: pine shade, old cantonment roads, church stone, and ridge views that open suddenly between the trees.

That modesty is part of the point. Kasauli was developed under the British Raj and still feels more like a quiet retreat than a resort town. The Mall is short, the walks are manageable, and the best hours are early or late, before traffic and day-trippers take over the narrow roads.

It passes the spare-day test for travellers who want a low-key hill break rather than another busy Shimla day. Monkey Point, Gilbert Trail, Christ Church, and Sunset Point are enough for a relaxed loop.
