Kota literally means 'city,' but to Jakartans it means the old Dutch quarter from the colonial era. The area contains many old buildings including the Museum Wayang, Piazza de Fatahillah, the Museum of Fine Art and Ceramics, and several old warehouses. The Batavia Cafe, the first cafe in Jakarta, still has its original wooden floors and stairs.
