Jakarta Port Authority's Lookout Tower dates from 1834, when it watched over ships entering and leaving Sunda Kelapa Harbor. It is no longer in use and looks worn, but that is part of the point: this is a small, tangible reminder of the old port city beneath modern Jakarta.
