Kalibata Heroes Cemetery is Indonesia's national military cemetery, opened in 1954 for people killed in the independence struggle and later national figures. Thousands of soldiers, veterans, and public officials are buried here, including B.J. Habibie, Indonesia's third president.
It is a quiet stop rather than a showpiece attraction, but useful if you want a sober look at how modern Indonesia commemorates the independence era.
