The Iran Historical Car Museum, also known as the National Car Museum of Iran, is one of Tehran's more unusual collections. Its displays include royal limousines, sports cars, motorcycles, and carriages associated with the Pahlavi era, from Rolls-Royces and Mercedes models to rarer European performance cars.
It is a specialist museum, but not only for car obsessives. The collection says a great deal about 20th-century power, taste, and imported modernity in Iran, and it makes a sharp contrast with the palaces and revolutionary sites elsewhere in the city.
