Things to Do

Tehran rewards more time than most visitors give it. The sights mentioned in the overview — the Golestan Palace, the Grand Bazaar, the National Museum, the Treasury of National Jewels — are individually among the best in the Middle East. The northern suburbs add a different dimension: mountain trails beginning at the end of metro lines, tea houses perched on streams, and a ski resort reachable by cable car from inside the city. A well-planned two days covers the essentials; three days is comfortable.
