The Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Natural History is a large, serious natural history museum on the Hakone Tozan Line near Odawara. Its strongest sections cover the geology of the Hakone volcanic region, fossils, local wildlife, and sea life from Sagami Bay.
It works well as a bad-weather stop or a family break between Odawara and Hakone. The museum is more educational than flashy, but the scale of the collection makes it worth the detour for anyone interested in the landscape around Hakone.
