Hakone's main draw is the natural landscape: the volcanic valley at Owakudani, Lake Ashi at the caldera bottom, and — on clear days — Mount Fuji rising above the lake's far shore. The multi-modal transport circuit (cog railway, cable car, ropeway, lake ferry) connects most of the key sights. Hot spring bathing at the ryokan or a day-spa onsen is the other essential activity.
