Kak Som Nasi Kerabu

Late-night Kampung Baru stall famous for blue-dyed nasi kerabu with coconut, herbs, and rice crackers

Kak Som is one of Kampung Baru's most beloved food stalls — a family-run operation on Jalan Raja Muda Musa serving nasi kerabu, the distinctive blue rice (coloured with butterfly pea flower) that's a Kelantanese speciality. The rice is served with shredded coconut, pickled vegetables, fish crackers, and a choice of protein (grilled fish, chicken), the whole dish assembled at the stall and eaten at simple tables nearby.

The stall opens in the evening and often runs until 2–3 am, which makes it one of the best late-night options in this part of KL. The blue rice is visually striking and the flavour profile — herbaceous, slightly sour, coconutty — is completely different from KL's standard rice dishes. Prices are around RM8–12. Cash only.
