Several Nepali airlines offer one-hour "mountain flights" from Tribhuvan Airport — a circuit over the Himalayan range that brings the aircraft within clear view of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, and the Annapurnas. Window seats alternate: first half of the flight, left side gets the mountain views; second half, right side. Every passenger gets a window seat for part of the route.
The flights depart early morning (typically 6:30–8:30am) when the visibility is best and the air most stable. They cost around $180–220 per person. On clear days — most days in October–November and March–April — the views are extraordinary and the aircraft gets close enough to the peaks to give a real sense of their scale. Budget Himalayan flights offer the same routes at lower prices.
