Savour Foods is a no-frills Punjabi institution on Jinnah Avenue that has been making the same dish — pulao with chickpeas and yoghurt — since the 1980s. The queue out the door at lunchtime, almost always thirty deep, is the recommendation. A plate is around Rs 250 and arrives in under five minutes.
This is fast food the Pakistani way: cheap, consistent, prepared in industrial quantities, eaten standing at a counter or taken away. Other dishes are on the menu but most regulars order the pulao without thinking.
