Pagudpud

Northern Luzon beach town where white sand, waterfalls, cliffs, and coastal highway meet.

Pagudpud is the far-north beach escape of Luzon, a long way from Manila and all the better for it. The town sits where Ilocos Norte runs into the Cordillera's last coastal hills, so beaches, cliffs, waterfalls, wind farms, and the road to Cagayan all crowd into a small corner of the map.

The classic stop is Saud Beach, a pale arc of sand on Bangui Bay. East of town, Maira-ira Beach and the Blue Lagoon area feel more dramatic, with headlands, sea stacks, and surf-coloured water below the hills.

Pagudpud is strongest when you move around. Walk to Kabigan Falls, stop at Bantay Abot Cave, and drive the Patapat Viaduct, where the road clings to the mountain above the sea. It is not a polished resort strip; it is a scattered coastal municipality with several genuinely good anchors.

Most travellers come via Laoag or as part of a wider Ilocos road trip. Give it at least a full day, two if you want beach time instead of just ticking off viewpoints.
